First-Aid Assistance

Each company is responsible for bringing their own first-aid supplies and administering aid when necessary. Portland Corporate Games officials, event sites and sponsors are not responsible for having first-aid supplies nor are they responsible to perform First-Aid.

Participant ID's Required

The PCG Board of Directors reserves the right to ask for photo ID from participants during the course of the Games. If a participant is unable to produce a photo ID, they will be removed from the event. Please see the PCG Protest Policy for more information on protests and disqualifications.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Portland Corporate Games has the power to disqualify, suspend, or remove any manager, coach, player, spectator, or team and/or company for any unsportsmanlike conduct before, during or after an event. Any striking or threatening of any spectator, official, or participant will result in a lifetime suspension of the individual from Portland Corporate Games and will disqualify the individual's team in the associated event. The team can be disqualified from Corporate Cup participation, at the discretion of the coordinator, sponsor or official. No fighting will be tolerated.

Rescheduling and Cancellation

Portland Corporate Games has the authority to cancel or reschedule any event if there is bad weather, or other unforeseen problems. In such an instance, check with your Company Coordinator, call PCG at (503) 922-0030, or check the calendar page to see if an event has been rescheduled. Teams will not be allowed to reschedule themselves. All tournament formats are subject to change at the discretion of the tournament director.

Events will only be postponed or cancelled in the event that weather conditions are a direct danger to participants. If an event is postponed, PCG reserves the right to reschedule anytime. Such rescheduling will be based on time, facility availability, and financial and/or organizational constraints.

Minimum Teams Per Event

If there are less than 8 participants in an event, PCG Board of Directors reserves the right to cancel the event or combine it with another group or division (if appropriate).

Forfeit Times and Ruling

If a team is not present at the scheduled start time, the official may declare a forfeit, or allow a grace period. There will be a -50 point penalty deducted to that company's overall Corporate Cup score. Direct any questions concerning this rule to the PCG Tournament Director. It is recommended that participants arrive at each event at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled start time.

Insurance and Waiver

Each team and individual player is responsible for his or her own insurance. There is no league insurance coverage provided by Portland Corporate Games. All participants will be required to sign a waiver of liability when registering at the beginning of each event.

Portland Corporate Games, along with all Corporate Games sponsors, assume no responsibility for loss, cost and or expense arising from participation in the Corporate Games.

No Alcohol, except at properly licensed facilities

Alcoholic beverages are not allowed to be consumed during participating in Portland Corporate Games events, except at properly licensed facility, and only when purchased from that facility.  It is up to the individual and/or team to decide to consume alcoholic beverages or not.  It is the individual's responsibility to behave in an appropriate manner and not to over consume.  The Portland Corporate Games has the power to remove any manager, coach, player, spectator, team and/or company who violate this rule.

Amateurs Only

Portland Corporate Games is an amateur event, no Professionals are allowed to participate. If an individual is considered professional status by the national affiliate organization for that particular sport, they are not allowed to compete in the event. Retired professionals must be retired prior to January 1st in order to compete in their respective event. If there is a team member that is a part-time or tournament status professional employee, please consult the national affiliate organization's policy. If that person, based on the ruling by the national affiliate organization, is considered a professional, they are not eligible to participate in that event.

This also allows companies to earn up to10 Corporate Cup points per event (5 point per volunteer).  If a volunteer does not show up for their assigned event or leaves early, one point for each volunteer will be taken from the company's Corporate Cup total.

Equipment

Participants are responsible for their own equipment, water and/or supplementary drinks during each event.

Medals

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each event. The medals will be awarded at the closing ceremony.

Tips For Organizing Your Team

Posters and sign-up sheets are available to print from the Portland Corporate Games website.  view forms  Posting them in highly visible areas will help to get the word out about the Games. Company's and/or HR Managers can support participation in the Games by enclosing a memo in the employee's paychecks, sending e-mails, or calling a brief meeting to explain the concept. It is recommended that emphasis  is on the fun that employee's will have as well as the team-building experience, not athletic skill alone. There are events for everyone.

Protesting

PROTESTS MUST BE DECLARED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. If such protests occur during a game/match/etc., notify the on-site PCG official that the remainder of the game/match/etc. is being played under protest.

In any case of a dispute or protest the decision of the on-site official is final unless a formal dispute or protest is submitted in writing within 24 hours after completion of the event. The PCG Board of Directors will then make a decision and that decision is final.

Employee Eligibility and Regulations

Each participant must be an employee of the participating company, who has been on the payroll for the last 30 days, and works no less than 20 hours per week. If a participant is deemed ineligible by the PCG staff after having already participated in any event, that team will be disqualified from the event and 50 points will be deducted from the Corporate Cup score, regardless of the results of the event. Any medals or awards will be stripped from the company and reassigned.

All participants must be at least 18 years old and cannot be attending high school. Company volunteers and PCG Board members are not eligible to participate. Retired employees of participating companies are encouraged to participate, provided the individual has written permission from the company with identification.

Spouses: Each company may independently decide whether they will allow spouses of employees to participate in the Games as a representative of their organization. Additionally, it will be up to each company to decide if they will allow spouses to fill their volunteer positions. For smaller companies, allowing spouses may help increase their participation levels.

No Company Banners

Company banners are not allowed at events, because that privilege has been given to the Company sponsoring each individual event. If you would like to hang a banner at an event please see the sponsorship page of the PCG website.

Hand held signs to show team spirit are allowed; however, the signs must be 12" X 18" or smaller. No posting of signs at event locations is allowed.
